Dear Friends of LifeSkills!

 

You are invited to the LifeSkillz 2013 Anniversary Ball, an event to celebrate the first year of LifeSkills, an empowerment-focused study for young transgender women, ages 16-29. We’re thrilled to celebrate our first anniversary and have the opportunity to recognize our supporters and participants who have contributed so much >to this project’s success!

We’re partnering with BAGLY who will be offering free HIV testing and counseling, and we are co-organizing with Princess Athena Kahn our Commentator for the evening.

FENWAY HEALTH RELEASES “I AM: TRANS PEOPLE SPEAK” VIDEO AS PART OF TRANSGENDER AWARENESS WEEK

In honor of Transgender Awareness Week,  the LifeSkills project of The Fenway Institute and the Boundlessand Living Well series at Fenway Health hosted the debut screening of Fenway’s  “I AM: Trans People Speak” video from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14  in the auditorium of Fenway’s 1340 Boylston Street, Boston home.  That video is available on Youtube at

Transgender Rights in the Workplace Are Still Unclear Featuring Nelisa Rash

LifeSkills Boston's very own Nelisa Rash was pictured in an article about Transgender Employment Rights. She was photographed and interviewed at the Philly Trans Health Conference that she attended last month for the Atlantic - a national wellknown blog. Article by  Julie Turkewitz on June 21st, 2012. We'd like to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible work Nelisa is doing in the community, not just for Fenway and LifeSkills but her idendepent activism and leadership in the community. It's truly remarkable.

You're Invited to our Skillz Ball on July 13th!

You are invited to attend the first ever Skillz Ball 2012, an event to celebrate the efforts of local organizations serving LGBTQ youth and raise awareness of LifeSkills, an empowerment-focused research study for transgender women, ages 16-24.

Contestants will have the opportunity to compete in 1 or more categories on behalf of their favorite local organization serving LGBTQ youth. Winners will receive a $50 cash prize for each category and the organization with the most category wins will receive a $500 donation from Fenway Health.

LifeSkills Takes on Philly!

Fenway Health had a strong presence at the 11th annual Philadelphia Trans Health Conference this past week (May 31-June 2, 2012)!  The Philadelphia Trans Health Conference is a free program of the Mazzoni Center. The conference draws a diverse group of approximately 2,000 people of many genders and gender experiences from all over the U.S. and around the globe to attend workshops and activities focused on the health and well-being of transgender people, communities, and allies.
